Hey You!
How to deal with inattentive audience members who are blabbing while your are pouring your heart out to the audience!
Here’s a song I wrote for when it was just me on stage at a ‘hoot nite’ at the Troubadour in Hollywood. I was holding the attention of the audience pretty well, but there were two young women at a table right at the front edge of the stage having a wonderful visit with each other, ... not listening to anything I was singing, ... even though the rest of the audience seemed totally with me. I didn’t mind with the sing-along songs, ... but I wanted to do a quiet song. I explained this to the audience, but the two women didn’t hear a word of my explanation, ... or even notice that they were the only ones in the room talking. So I walked up to their table and sang this song directly to them as they continued to chat. The audience started laughing, but the women didn’t realize what was happening in the room until the very end, when the audience applauded for me, … and for them! Enjoy!

To be so impolite, . . . I’ll bet you G
Needed that attention, F#
And you don’t make me uptight, Bm-A
But I’d really like to mention A7
When I’m singin’ soft and fine, you seem to Cmaj7
Treat me like TV. D-D7
You turn yours up and turn down mine G-Gm
And my message can’t get through D
And so I’ll sing it once again my friend, because A
My message is for you. A7-D-Em A, ...
Bronx cheer! (fart sound with your lips) D!!
